NOW READING

Currently reading They All Came to Barneys by Gene Pressman, the grandson of Barney himself. I’m already pulled in by the early beginnings of this iconic temple of fashion through to its eventual demise. It took me back to my first real purchase there, the very first pair of Marc Jacobs jeans he ever made. I saved up for two months to them. The fit was perfect and I got so many compliments. If you want to know about a slice New York fashion history, this is worth the read.

Finally getting into the life of James Baldwin, a fellow Harlem kid, which I somehow never knew. Baldwin: A Love Story by Nicholas Boggs is beautifully written, sharp, intimate, and worth the time.

NOW LISTENING

December 30, 2025
Great dissection of the Spring/Summer Women’s Collection on the StyleZeitgeist Podcast with fashion journalists Eugene Rabkin and Philippe Pourhashemi. I chuckled quite a bit at their amazing and spot on takes regarding the season’s debuts, from Demna Gvasalia at Gucci to Jonathan Anderson at Dior and so much more. Two packed episodes.

Now Reading

Finished Mark Ronson’s book Night People: How to Be a DJ in ’90s New York City. What a flashback. It took me straight back to Friday nights in the hip hop room at LIFE nightclub, watching him mix in the West Village, and all the other spots I used to move through. If you know, you know. What a time to be alive.
Reading it reminded me how much those years still shape how I move through life, no pun intended. Still to this day. The rhythm, the rooms, the way presence mattered. Thanks for the memories, Mark. Maybe I’ll write a post about that time.
